Altanese Phenelus joined the Miami-Dade County Attorney's Office in 2014. Altanese practices in the Aviation Division and is stationed at the Miami International Airport. She litigates commercial and construction disputes on behalf of Miami International Airport and the County's general aviation airports. She also provides counsel on transportation, security, and property-related matters, and works with the Board of County Commissioners and staff to provide legal advice and to prepare and review legislation on behalf of the Board.
Prior to practicing in the Aviation Division, Altanese practiced in the Zoning, Land Use & Environmental Section as well as the Tort Liability & Medical Malpractice Section. During that time, she successfully argued two appeals before the Third District Court of Appeal, one concerning a constitutional challenge to Miami-Dade County's environmental regulations, and the other involving issues of notice and sovereign immunity in a tort action.
