Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Cracks Down on Insurance Fraud with Operation Crash and Cash.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) Organized Crimes Bureau, Medical Crimes Squad has arrested multiple individuals as part of Operation Crash and Cash, an ongoing investigation into staged vehicle accidents and insurance fraud.
On November 3, 2024, detectives received a tip from an insurance provider regarding a suspected staged crash. Through extensive investigative efforts, detectives uncovered that those involved had pre-signed blank therapy forms, which were later submitted to insurance carriers to fraudulently claim treatment. This initial discovery led to the arrest of two individuals on February 24, 2025.
As the investigation progressed, additional suspects were identified, including individuals associated with a medical clinic and an auto body shop suspected of participating in the fraudulent scheme. On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, MDSO detectives executed multiple search and arrest warrants simultaneously, resulting in the arrest of four additional individuals tied to the operation.
Operation Crash and Cash remains an active investigation as MDSO continues working to dismantle insurance fraud operations in Miami-Dade County.
