TITLE
RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A SISTER CITY PROGRAM BETWEEN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY AND THE CITY OF PEREIRA, COLOMBIA

BODY
WHEREAS, representatives of Miami-Dade County, Florida and the City of Pereira, Colombia have met and expressed a desire to establish a Sister City affiliation between the two governments and their people; and
WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County is the new home of many of Pereira's sons and daughters, and the two governments base significant portions of their economies on tourism and conventions; the guidelines established in Resolution No. R-416-95 are therefore met; and
WHEREAS, both Miami-Dade County and Pereira, Colombia shall agree to cooperate in order to expand trade, commerce, and educational opportunities; and
WHEREAS, this Board wishes to establish an official Sister City affiliation between Miami-Dade County and the City of Pereira, Colombia,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA:
Section 1. This Board, on behalf of the Citizens of Miami-Dade County, Florida hereby establishes a Sister City affiliation with the government and the citizens of the City of Pereira, Colombia.
Section 2. A committee of private citizens shall be appointed and governed by the Miami-Dade County Sister Cities Program to carry out the objectives of fostering enhanced economic and social relations between the two governments and their people.
