All movers providing local moves within Miami-Dade, or between Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach counties, must be registered with Miami-Dade County.
Moving companies operating in the tri-county area are required to be licensed/permitted by their respective county government consumer agency where the mover’s primary business is located and the Florida Division of Consumer Services. Consumers may call the appropriate county consumer agency to determine the current license status of any local moving company.

General Liability
Motor Vehicle Liability
$50,000 combined single limit for vehicles with gross vehicle weight of 35,000 pounds or less
$100,000 combined single limit for vehicles with gross vehicle weight of 35,000 pounds or more
Cargo Liability: valuation of $10,000 combined single limit minimum with 60 cents per pound, per article
Workers’ Compensation Certificate or affirmation
Copy of contract for service (bill of lading), Moving Consumer Bill of Rights and Disclosure Statement on mover’s letterhead and any other document or form used when dealing with the public with respect to the shipment of household goods
If the application process is not completed within 60 days of its filing, the application will be considered abandoned and closed and a new application and fee will be required.
Any person(s) or corporation operating a moving business located in Miami-Dade County that transports household goods originating in Miami-Dade County and terminating in Miami-Dade County, Broward County or Palm Beach County, or originating in Broward County or Palm Beach County and terminating in Miami-Dade County whose current registration is expiring must renew in person, by mail, or online at least 30 days prior to the expiration of current registration.

Unless the move is taking place in less than 72 hours after the prospective client contacts the mover, there must be a written estimate
Written contracts, which must have the final costs, are required for all moves. Final charges cannot exceed the estimate by more than 10 percent
Movers must provide, at minimum, insurance coverage of 60 cents per pound of article. Consumers have 60 days to file a claim with the mover
In the event of a change in ownership of a moving business, a new application and fee is required. Corporations that have a change of 10 percent or more of its ownership shall notify Miami-Dade County no later than 30 days after the date of the change.
Changes in any material aspect of the moving business shall be provided to Miami-Dade County in writing along with proof of the change and the required fee, if replacement of the registration is required, within 30 days of the change.

Moving decal fee: $79
The fees are non-refundable. A late fee will apply to renewal applications submitted after the expiration of the current registration. The late fee is in addition to the renewal fee.
