Parking Garage Collapse (Update #1)


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau is investigating an incident that occurred at the above listed location.  According to investigators, a five-story parking garage that was under construction collapsed.  Rescue teams quickly assessed the collapse area with the assistance of search and rescue K-9’s.  It was determine that workers were trapped underneath the slabs of concrete and steel.  MDFR units will remain on scene until all trapped workers are freed and search operations will continue for fourth worker who remains trapped.   Mr. Demendoza and Calderon were transported to local hospitals where they were pronounced deceased.  The third victim, Mr. Perez, was extricated during the night and transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. 

UPDATE #1:  The listed victims sustained injuries during the collapse of the parking garage.  The victims were transported by American Medical Response Ambulance to local hospitals where some have subsequently been released and the others remain in stable condition.
