Report a Lost Item on Transit
The Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) is not responsible for items left on vehicles, or reimbursement for lost items. Before leaving the bus, train, or mover, always check your packages and personal belongings.
The quickest and most convenient way to report items lost in Metrorail, Metromover or Metrobus is by submitting an online request. You will receive a confirmation with a case number once you submit the form.
You may also report your lost item by calling 786-469-5564. A representative is available to assist you Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding county observed holidays. Please have your feedback number available when calling with questions regarding an item previously reported as lost.
Certain items such as keys and glasses are too numerous, common, and difficult to catalog. When reporting a lost item, please provide as many details as possible about your lost item and the circumstances (i.e., bus route, direction of travel, time of the day, Metrorail car or station, bus stop, etc.).
The department makes every attempt to identify lost items and return them to their owners.
After 90 days, unclaimed items are properly disposed. Unclaimed government issued documents will be mailed to the issuing office.
For out-of-state customers unable to pick up a lost item, please contact the office for more information.
