Less Water = More Green

Air Quality Because of the importance of clean air to our health, the environment, and even our economy, Miami-Dade County DERM is working diligently to protect and manage our air resources as efficiently as possible.
Artificial Reefs In order to protect our natural reefs from the stress of excessive human interaction, "artificial" reefs are created out of a wide array of objects ranging from steel hulled ships, to army tanks, to commercial aircraft, to specially designed reef modules.
Climate Change/Global Warming Global warming is the gradual rise of the earth's surface temperature. The Earth's average temperature has increased by about 1°F (0.5°C) over the past century. "Global Warming" and "Climate Change" refer to the warming predicted to occur as a result of increased emissions of greenhouse gases.
Ecosystems An ecosystem is defined as an ecological unit consisting of abiotic components such as air, water and land coexisting with biotic components such as plants and animal life.
Endangered Species Once a species is placed on the Federal List of endangered and protected animal and plant species with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the species can receive protection under the Endangered Species Act. As of August 31, 2002, 1,818 species are listed, with 1,260 being U.S. species.
Report Agricultural Crimes Only through citizen crime reporting is the Agricultural Patrol able to focus on crimes targeting the agricultural areas.
Report Fraud You can report fraud, waste, abuse of power, or mismanagement to the Inspector General.
Report Illegal Dumping If you witness an illegal dumping incident in progress after work hours or on weekends, please call 3-1-1. This is treated as a priority call and an Officer will respond.
Environmental Complaints The Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM) responds to environmental complaints and emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
