It's not just about paper!

County staff is already reusing and recycling office paper whenever possible. But now, thanks to the Department of Procurement Management, Miami-Dade Countyis turning over another green leaf by also recycling used toner, inkjet and laser cartridges!

New Anti-Litter Campaign

The Community Image Advisory Board, the City of Miami, the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority and the Miami HEAT square off against litter. Their mission -- to "SLAM IT, JAM IT, STUFF IT" and "Keep South Florida Litter-Free."

IT Services for Municipalities
Miami-Dade offers IT services to local municipal governments. Such services include webdesign, hosting, email, content maintenance, etc.

Geographic Information Services (GIS)
Miami-Dade's GIS is used extensively, not only by county and other governmental agencies, but also by the general public. A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer system that provides tools to store, edit, display and query data containing locational information, such as address, folio, census tract, Zip Code or x, y coordinates.

Web Portal: miamidade.gov
Each month more than 500,000 visitors come to miamidade.gov. Since it was launched in 2001, the County's web portal has grown to accommodate our diverse audience's particular needs.

Webcasting
In January 2006, Miami-Dade County added an exciting, new chapter to its continuing e-Government story when it entered the world of webcasting. This system makes it possible for about 1,500 users to tune-in to live webcasts of official government meetings as well as selected Miami-Dade TV programming.

County IT Governance Process
Miami-Dade County has established a Governance Process for requesting general funds capital dollars for technology projects.
