Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez to deliver keynote address at the 2015 Transportation Summit
(MIAMI, January 16, 2015) – The Citizens' Independent Transportation Trust (Transportation Trust), in conjunction with Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez, the Board of County Commissioners, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the Miami-Dade County League of Cities is organizing the Transportation Summit 2015 "Advancing the community's vision for public transportation", on January 22, 2015, 8:30 a.m. at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus Chapman Conference Center, 300 NE Second Avenue, in Miami.
The 9:30 a.m. Opening Session will feature the Keynote Address by Miami-Dade Mayor Gimenez, who will share his vision for public transportation in Miami-Dade County. We are also pleased to welcome Phillip Washington the current Chairman of the American Public Transportation Association and the General Manager of the Regional Transportation District in Denver, Colorado. He will share the experience of the Denver FasTracks program that is currently constructing 122 miles of light and commuter rail and 16 miles of Bus Rapid Transit.
There will also be presentations on the Maryland Light Rail Purple Line and the Washington, D.C. Silver Line Metrorail extension to Dulles Airport, as well as concurrent breakout sessions on Transit Oriented Development and Livable Communities. Participants can also visit the Transportation Showcase throughout the day featuring indoor and outdoor exhibits on a variety of transportation specialties.
