Chairman Gilbert will present a check to Excel Empowerment Zone, Inc. to advance quality education for youth

MIAMI-DADE – Chairman Oliver G. Gilbert, III will present a check in the amount of $65,000 to Excel Empowerment Zone, Inc. on Friday, May 26 at 11 a.m., Excel Kids Academy, 17700 NW 27th Ave., Miami Gardens, FL 33056.

Excel Empowerment Zone, Inc. provides Preschool and K-5 education to children through the Excel Kids Academy in Miami Gardens. Additionally, the non-profit offers K-8 after-school programming in municipalities extending from Miami Gardens to North Miami and Miami. Diverse curriculums incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), social and emotional learning, healthy habits, and life skills to prepare youth for a rewarding and sustainable future.

This funding, advocated by Chairman Gilbert through the Miami-Dade Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-23 budget will assist the organization with continuing its programming and advancing its mission throughout Miami-Dade County.
