Chairman’s Workday Initiative will start off in the classroom at Frederick Douglass Elementary
MIAMI-DADE – Chairman Oliver G. Gilbert, III will kick off the Chairman’s Workday Initiative, at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14 at Frederick Douglass Elementary School, 314 NW 12th St., Miami, FL 33136.
This new initiative will yield an opportunity for the Chairman to experience the lives of everyday citizens through their roles at work while giving community members exposure to government.
For the first workday initiative, Chairman Gilbert will spend a day in the life of a public educator at Frederick Douglass Elementary School. He will engage in a Physical Education (P.E.) activity with fourth grade students and discuss the importance of health and wellness education, an issue the Chairman highlights regularly through his Xercise Daily initiative. Additionally, the Chairman will use his experience in public service to administer a lesson on civic engagement with these students in their classroom.
