Commissioner Gilbert and M-DCPS to launch a comprehensive recycling and waste reduction curriculum for the upcoming school year

MIAMI-DADE – Following legislation sponsored by Commissioner Oliver G. Gilbert III, the Miami-Dade County Public School Board recently approved a partnership with Miami-Dade County to develop and implement a comprehensive recycling and waste reduction curriculum for the upcoming school year. Led at the School Board by Board Member Joseph Geller, this initiative will reach Head Start, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First Grade students across the Miami-Dade County Public Schools system.

“The habits we teach our children today will shape the adults they become,” said Commissioner Gilbert. “This partnership gives our youngest learners the tools to grow into responsible, community-minded individuals who make a positive impact on Miami-Dade County and the world they will lead.”

With this collaboration, this community is demonstrating how local government and public schools can work together to build a cleaner and more informed place for generations to come.
