The Chairman's Council for Prosperity Initiative will meet to discuss housing
(MIAMI-DADE, FL) – When Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jean Monestime became Chairman, along with changing the committee structure, he created the Chairman’s Council for Prosperity and appointed Commissioners Barbara Jordan and Daniella Levine Cava. The Council will be meeting on June 3, at 9:30 a.m. at the Stephen P. Clark Center, Room 18-3.
The topics of discussion will be affordable housing data in the county, analysis of allocation of housing dollars and regional housing trends and inclusionary zoning. The Council met on March 23 and April 27 and discussed possible ways of bridging the income inequality gap and employment opportunity initiatives.
The American Community Survey ranks Miami-Dade County as having one of the highest levels of income inequality among the top 10 most populated counties in the U.S. The Council is working to increase opportunities for employment and homeownership, support entrepreneurship, expand locally owned businesses and use every avenue possible to reduce the income inequality gap among our permanent population.
The Chairman believes that goals can be achieved by having ongoing dialogues with members of the Council, inviting national experts to the Council’s meetings, and conducting surveys of other regions to develop an inventory of proven initiatives and tested policies.
