Commissioner Bastien partners with MDEAT to host economic justice discussion on Feb. 20
MIAMI-DADE - Commissioner Marleine Bastien and the Miami-Dade Economic Advisory Trust (MDEAT) are joining forces to celebrate Black History Month with an impactful panel discussion. “Forging Our Own Path: Skills, Enterprise, & the Black Pursuit of Economic Justice” will bring together a diverse group of thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and community advocates to explore the unique challenges and opportunities faced by the Black community in its pursuit of economic justice. Hosted by Anthony Bonamy, Small Business Manager, Miami-Dade Office of Innovation & Economic Development, this discussion will be held Thursday, Feb. 20, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Miami Dade College North Campus, 11380 NW 27th Ave., Conference Room 3249, Miami, FL 33167.
This panel discussion will shine a light on the hurdles and opportunities that come with Black economic empowerment and how to break down barriers and build sustainable success, essential skills, and the journey toward financial independence. Moderated by G. Eric Knowles, President & CEO, Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce, the panelists include Michaeljohn Green, Chief of Economic Development and Strategy, Miami Downtown Development Authority (Miami DDA); Noelle Jackson, Founder, Office Logic; Beatrice Louissaint, President, Florida State Minority Supplier Development Council; and Ramona Hall, CEO, Phillips Concessions. This event will provide the opportunity to hear from Miami-Dade’s top leaders shaping Black entrepreneurship and economic justice and discuss actionable steps to drive economic empowerment within the Black community. Attendees will have the chance to engage with panelists during an interactive question and answer session and play a part in the conversation on how to work towards a more equitable and just economic future. Attendees are invited to be a part of the movement to ensure Black businesses thrive for generations.
