Commissioner Eileen Higgins launches Safer, Cleaner Streets campaign in District 5
MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins, District 5, will host a launch event for District 5’s Safer, Cleaner Streets (SCS) campaign on Thursday, September 30 at 7 p.m. at Futurama, 1637 SW 8th St., Miami, FL 33135. The campaign launch event will provide attendees with a visual and performing arts experience, music, bites, and drinks under the stars in the heart of Little Havana.
The Safer, Cleaner streets campaign is an initiative led by Commissioner Higgins that engages community members and local government to proactively address the cleanliness and safety of District 5 neighborhoods. The campaign will tackle issues such as recycling, litter, illegal dumping, storm drains, potholes, crosswalks, and signalizations. It’s a call to action for residents, local businesses, and stakeholders along with local government to exercise their respective roles to change behavior for the better.
The event will mark the official kickoff of the multi-faceted initiative that involves improving neighborhoods by working together and taking pride in one’s community. SCS includes monthly neighborhood assessments by District 5 staff, connecting residents to 311, community involvement through meet-ups, stakeholder one-on-ones, cleanups, and ongoing beautification projects.
