Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera Demands Justice for Brothers to the Rescue Victims
Miami-Dade, FL – Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera spearheaded legislation today that calls on President Biden, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, Governor Ron DeSantis, and Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody to prosecute all culpable parties in the murders of Brothers to the Rescue members Carlos Costa, Armando Alejandre, Jr., Mario de la Peña and Pablo Morales.
Commissioner Cabrera stated, “Murderers and human rights violators should not be offered refuge in our great nation. Lt. Pardo Rodriguez helped facilitate the cruel killing of four American citizens and should be held accountable for this heinous act. It is an insult to the families of the victims, the Cuban American community, and every freedom-loving American that this man be offered legal immigration status in this country and be allowed to live freely.”
In 1999, a federal indictment held 14 individuals, amongst them Cuban spies, liable for a conspiracy to shoot the Brothers to the Rescue Planes down. One such individual, Cuban Lt. Col. Pardo Rodriguez currently resides in Florida and immigrated to the United States through the humanitarian parole program. The resolution passed by Commissioner Cabrera and the Board of County Commissioners asks that justice be sought for the victims through the prosecution of all the individuals involved in this crime.
