Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera Calls on Congress to Deliver Tax Relief for Homeowners
Miami-Dade, FL – Today, the Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Kevin Marino Cabrera, urging Congress to pass Senator Rick Scott’s proposed bill aimed at providing much-needed tax relief for homeowners. The bill would allow a federal income tax deduction for premiums paid on homeowners’ insurance.
Commissioner Cabrera stated, “Homeowners are facing unprecedented financial pressure as insurance premiums continue to skyrocket, especially here in Florida. I applaud Senator Scott for standing up for our community and pushing forward common-sense solutions to address these challenges. I urge Congress to support this initiative and stand by our residents and homeowners during these difficult financial times.”
The “Homeowners Premium Reduction Act,” if passed, would create an above-the-line tax deduction of up to $10,000 annually for premiums paid on homeowners’ insurance for a primary residence. This deduction could significantly reduce the financial burden on millions of American families, providing relief and safeguarding their financial stability in these challenging times
