Tri-Rail’s Grand Arrival: MiamiCentral Service Inauguration Friday, Jan. 12
Capture Tri-Rail’s Special Commemorative Train to Downtown Miami, Marking the Exciting Launch of Service into MiamiCentral
MIAMI-DADE – Together with the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA), Miami-Dade Commissioner Raquel Regalado hosts a momentous celebration as Tri-Rail inaugurates its service into Downtown Miami. This event includes an exclusive, by-invitation-only train ride from the Tri-Rail Corridor into MiamiCentral Station.
Tri-Rail's train ride to the event departs the West Palm Beach Station at 9 a.m., making express stops at Boca Raton, Pompano Beach, Cypress Creek, Fort Lauderdale Airport, and Metrorail Transfer stations. The ceremony will commence after the arrival of the train at MiamiCentral.
"We could not be more proud of this achievement and what it means for South Florida’s future as a region. Finally bringing affordable regional commuter rail all the way into our urban core is an economic game-changer. We could not have done it without our state, federal, county and municipal partners, our exceptional Executive Director, Dave Dech, and a committed governing board,” said Commissioner Raquel Regalado, who served as SFRTA Chair through December 2023 and remains as a board member.
“I commend the SFRTA for this monumental shift towards enhanced connectivity and economic opportunity across South Florida. Today's arrival of Tri-Rail into Downtown Miami isn't just the sound of train wheels on tracks; it's the resonance of progress and opportunity echoing through our region's future. Mass transportation options like Tri-Rail are more than convenience; it's the lifeblood of a thriving, world-class community,” said Chairman Oliver G. Gilbert, III.
