Commissioner Diaz calls for feasibility study on converting two-way roads into one-way streets
(MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL) – Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz wants the County to explore converting certain two-way roadways into one-way streets to alleviate traffic congestion. He is sponsoring a resolution calling for a feasibility study on the issue which is scheduled for consideration by the County Commission at its meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 1.
“Converting two-way roads to one-way streets could potentially result in traffic moving more smoothly, fewer turn delays, and increased safety,” Commissioner Diaz said.
The feasibility study would identify potential roadways to be converted following coordination with municipalities within whose jurisdictions the roadways may lie, provide a cost estimate, and indicate potential funding sources.
Commissioner Rebeca Sosa is a co-prime sponsor of the resolution.
