Commissioner Diaz calls for feasibility study on roadway conversions
(MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL) – The Miami-Dade County Commission today approved a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz to explore converting certain two-way roadways into one-way streets either permanently or at certain times of the day to alleviate traffic congestion.
A feasibility study will be prepared within the next 180 to identify potential roadways to be converted following coordination with municipalities within whose jurisdictions the roadways lie. The study also will provide a cost estimate and indicate potential funding sources.
“As a community with among the worst traffic congestion issues in the nation, we need to do everything we can to alleviate traffic gridlock in our County, and I believe this is another step in the right direction for our residents and commuters,” Commissioner Diaz said.
Commissioner Rebeca Sosa was a co-prime sponsor of the resolution.
