Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) cordially invites you to join Fire Chief Dave Downey as he delivers his final message and transfers command of the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department. The Transfer of Command ceremony is scheduled for Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11 a.m.

Family, friends, colleagues, elected officials and members of the community will be attending the Transfer of Command Ceremony that will take place at the MDFR Headquarters located at 9300 NW 41 Street, Doral, FL 33178.

After 37 years in the fire service and 31 years with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, Fire Chief Dave Downey, who has been Miami-Dade Fire Rescue fire chief for the last 6 years, will work his last day on Friday, May 17, 2019.

“I don’t intend on leaving the fire service totally. I’ll see where the next chapter in my life takes me, but I am sure it will include a connection with our great fire service,” said retiring Fire Chief Dave Downey.
