Miami-Dade Firefighters wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Station 1 crew: (L-R) FF Peter Williams, FF Mario Arevalo, FF Darwin Villavicencio, Lt. Fred Edwards, FF Real Nadeau, FF David Schapson, and Captain Marc Chavers, proudly wearing pink.

(MIAMI, September 30, 2014) – No need to do a double-take if you see Miami-Dade’s “Bravest" wearing pink. The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department (MDFR) is proud to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month by having its members wear “pink.”

MDFR firefighter-paramedics will be wearing pink uniform shirts from Sept. 27 thru Oct. 11 to provide support and awareness of breast cancer related issues. This yearly initiative gives MDFR’s members yet another way to be part of the community they serve and the issues that are important to it.

MDFR’s “These Boots Are Made For Walking” team is headlining the fundraising efforts, which is looking to raise five thousand dollars for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign.

The team will be participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at Marlins Park. Join MDFR’s “These Boots Are Made For Walking” or donate.

For more information, please contact MDFR’s Public Affairs Bureau at 786-331-5200.
