(MIAMI, July 16, 2015) – Join Curt Sommerhoff, Miami-Dade County's Emergency Management Director and District 8 Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava for a hurricane preparedness engagement session to discuss the importance of building more disaster resilient communities and in being prepared this hurricane season. The meeting will take place Tuesday, July 21 from 1 - 3 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Cutler Bay's Town Center. This meeting is sponsored by Miami-Dade Communities Organized to Respond in Emergencies (M-D C.O.R.E.), a coalition developed through a partnership between Miami-Dade County and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Center for Faith-based & Neighborhood Partnerships; to promote the whole community approach to emergency management and to build more disaster resilient communities. M-D C.O.R.E. is a network of faith-based and community organizations who provide disaster services to their communities when needed, and partner with Miami-Dade County's Office of Emergency Management in preparedness, response and recovery activities.
