Miami-Dade County to break ground on Jose Marti Villas, an affordable housing community in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana
On Thursday, October 3, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami-Dade County District 5 Commissioner Eileen Higgins will break ground on the Jose Marti Villas Apartments, an affordable housing development for seniors and families. The developers, The Related Urban Development Group, will build 146 affordable units, consisting of an 8-story mid-rise building with 110 units and a 3-story garden-style building with 36 units, in Miami’s Little Havana area.
The affordable units at Jose Marti Villas will feature ceramic tile bathroom floors and high-efficiency central A/C in each unit. There will be a club room for meetings and celebrations, and feature one to three bedrooms units. Apartments will be available for income-qualifying residents, with 25 units at 30% of the area median income (AMI), 9 units at 40% AMI, 71 units at 50% AMI, and 23 units at 80% AMI.
Miami-Dade County’s funding for Jose Marti Villas totals $4,475,000 from the Surtax. The estimated completion date for the garden-style building is October 2025, and the mid-rise building is expected to be completed in March 2026.
