Property Tax Exemption filing deadline for 2014 is Monday, March 3rd
Miami-Dade County’s new Property Appraiser, Lazaro Solis would like to remind County residents that Florida’s statutory deadline for filing a Homestead Exemption is March 1st. Because the date falls on a Saturday this year, property owners will have the opportunity to file a timely application until Monday, March 3, 2014.
Residents who do not currently have a Homestead Exemption on their primary residence are urged to apply using the Property Appraiser’s fast, convenient and secure online application at www.miamidade.gov/pa
Property owners may also contact the Office of the Property Appraiser directly at 305-375-4712 if they have any exemption questions answered, or may file an application in person at either of the two Property Appraiser’s office locations at:
Downtown Miami 111 NW 1st Street Suite 710 Miami, FL 33128 |
South Dade Government Center 10710 SW 211 Street 2nd Floor Miami, FL 33189 |
Two final outreach events are available to property owners before the close of the exemption filing period. Property Appraiser Solis will host a Town Hall meeting this evening at 6 PM at the North Central Library, located at 9590 NW 27th Avenue, Miami, FL 33147. Staff from the Office of the Property Appraiser will be available at the Town Hall Meeting to assist property owners with their exemption applications. The Property Appraiser’s staff will be available this weekend on Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 10 AM until 2 PM at:
South Dade Government Center (10710 SW 211th Street, 2nd Floor, Cutler Bay, FL 33189)
McDonald Center (17051 NE 19th Avenue, North Miami Beach, FL 33162)
As the end of the 2014 exemption filing period approaches, Property Appraiser Solis stated, “I have committed our Office to providing as many opportunities as possible for eligible property owners to apply for property tax exemptions that they have a right to under Florida law. The Homestead Exemption and other property tax exemptions can represent significant savings to home owners, so I strongly encourage them to contact our office to determine their eligibility, or apply online.”
