Free Lecture at the Deering Estate at Cutler: "Out and About in South Florida with Archaeologist Bob Carr"
(MIAMI, September 22, 2014) – In partnership with the Archaeological Society of Southern Florida, the Deering Estate at Cutler presents a free lecture on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Lectures are held in the Visitor Center Theatre at the Deering Estate at Cutler located at 16701 SW 72 Avenue. The lectures are free and open to the public.

Presenter: Bob Carr, Executive Director of the Archaeological and Historical Conservancy, Inc.

Since 1985, Archaeological and Historical Conservancy (AHC) has investigated, documented, and assessed more than 1000 sites throughout Florida. In so doing they have gotten to know Florida and its history intimately, and have developed expertise from the Paleo period of prehistoric Florida to Seminole War sites of the 19th century. Bob Carr’s lecture will feature highlights of the tri-county area. It will be an intriguing and informative presentation.
Currently the Executive Director of the Archaeological and Historical Conservancy, Inc., Bob Carr’s career spans over thirty years. As Dade County’s first archaeologist, he was instrumental in the implementation of the Historical Sites Preservation Ordinance. A prolific writer, from trade periodicals to technical reports, Bob will update us on his recent work.
About the Deering Estate at Cutler
The Deering Estate at Cutler, a Miami-Dade County Park, is located at 16701 SW 72 Avenue in Miami. This 444-acre natural and archeological preserve and historic site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a center for education, culture and recreation. Historic house tours are offered daily at 10:30 am & 3:00 pm. Natural areas tours are offered daily at 12:30 pm (October – May). EcoAdventure Tours are also offered throughout the year for an additional fee.
