DentaQuest hosts corporate days of service at Miami-Dade Parks

DentaQuest CEO Fay Donohue to Join Volunteers on October 3 at Crandon Bear Cut Preserve and Natural Areas

(MIAMI, October 2, 2014) – DentaQuest joins Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade in hosting corporate volunteer days of service projects at parks throughout Miami-Dade County. DentaQuest CEO Fay Donohue will join volunteers and Miami-Dade Parks’ Natural Areas managers and biologists for a clean-up day of service this Friday, October 3, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Crandon Park Bear Cut Preserve, a 264-acre natural barrier island habitat located on the northern tip of Key Biscayne.  Litter and debris on the shores of this natural area affect the endangered mangroves, native plants, and wildlife such as sea birds.

Kendall Indian Hammocks Park will be the site of the third corporate day of service on October 10, where DentaQuest volunteers will participate in a landscaping project, planting native brush and adding mulch, to beautify the surrounding areas of the park office.

Ron Ehman Park will be the site of the fourth and final day of service on October 17, where DentaQuest volunteers will help our eco-system by removing invasive plant species at the park’s natural areas and rock pineland.

“We work hard all year to help people have good oral health so they can have the best possible overall health,” said DentaQuest CEO Fay Donohue.  “During our Mission Month, we are scheduling multiple community volunteer projects over the course of a 30-day period.  This month of service is a sign of our commitment to the communities we serve and underscores our passion to help others.”

On September 18, DentaQuest volunteers began their days of service by planting more than 1,000 sea oats at Crandon Park Beach’s sand dunes, assisting in the park’s long-term mission to restore the sand dunes along the park’s two-mile stretch of beaches.

Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade offers various partnership opportunities to companies interested in giving back to their community through service with tailor-made volunteer projects for your organization at Miami-Dade Parks.  Opportunities are also available to join existing volunteer projects or to donate toward supplies and materials.
