TOCA Event Design & Production donates $10,000 to Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade for Sea Turtle Conservation Program

(MIAMI, November 6, 2014) – The Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade received a $10,000 donation from TOCA Event Design & Production (TOCA) for Miami-Dade Parks’ Sea Turtle Awareness and Conservation Program.  A check presentation ceremony with representatives from TOCA, Miami-Dade Parks, and the Parks Foundation was held this afternoon on the beach at Haulover Park & Marina, 10800 Collins Avenue, in North Miami Beach, FL. Known for their high-concept event productions, TOCA is committed to donating in support of conservation projects, such as the Sea Turtle Conservation Program.

Before 1980, there was no documented sea turtle activity in Miami-Dade County, mainly due to the lack of adequate beach-nesting habitat.  In 1979, Miami-Dade Park and Recreation Department's Sea Turtle Conservation Program began a comprehensive beach re-nourishment project and in 1980, with the advent of our newly re-nourished beaches, sea turtle activity started to prosper.  Today, the program has documented more than 6,886 nests, which has resulted in the release of more than 550,300 hatchlings.

“We want to thank TOCA for their generous donation to our Sea Turtle Conservation program that educates people on how to preserve and protect the various endangered sea turtle species and their nesting habitats on our local beaches,” said Jack Kardys, director of Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces.
