River of Grass Greenway ''Open House'' Meetings Focus on Education & Feedback in Developing Master Plan Final Meeting Tonight in Naples
(MIAMI, December 11, 2014) - The Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces (PROS) Department, in partnership with the National Park Service (Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program), the Naples Pathways Coalition and multiple south Florida cities and agencies are seeking public input concerning the feasibility study and master plan for the proposed River of Grass Greenway (ROGG), between Miami and Naples. The proposed Greenway will provide a recreational and alternative transportation corridor for cycling, walking, wildlife viewing and experiencing the natural beauty of the Everglades like never before. Three regional “Open House” meetings, geographically distributed at locations along the corridor in Miami, Everglades City and Naples, were scheduled this week to allow for broad-based citizen participation. Residents, stakeholders and interested parties were asked to attend a meeting in their region. Miami and Everglades City concluded their meetings.
The third and final meeting in the ROGG “Open House” Meeting series hosted by Miami-Dade Parks will be held tonight, December 11, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the following location:
Collier County South Regional Library
Meeting Room
8065 Lely Cultural Parkway, Naples, FL 34113
The meeting will follow an Open House format where people may come and go as they please. Meeting materials will be displayed and attendees will view a self-running Power Point presentation, conceptual plans, maps, documents, and a summary of benefits. Members of the project team will be available for questions and answers.
The vision for the River of Grass Greenway promotes enhanced recreational opportunities for education, stewardship of the environment and cultural assets of this unique area.
