The Third South Florida One-Minute Play Festival at the Deering Estate at Cutler
(MIAMI, December 22, 2014) - The Deering Estate at Cutler presents the Third South Florida One-Minute Play Festival on Saturday and Sunday, January 17 and 18, 2015. The One-Minute Play Festival (#1MPF), is America’s largest and longest running short form theatre company founded by Producing Artist Director, Dominic D’Andrea, and features one-minute plays by more than 30 established and emerging South Florida playwrights commissioned for this event. The work attempts to reflect the theatrical landscape of local artistic communities by creating a dialogue between the collective conscious and the individual voice through a performance of many moments and includes responses to local topics such as immigration, government and culture. Please note that the performances contain mature content. There are three performances scheduled at the Deering Estate at Cutler: Saturday, January 17, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, January 18, at 3 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. The Deering Estate at Cutler is located at 16701 SW 72nd Avenue in Miami.

In each city of the 20 cities where it has occurred, #1MPF works with partnering organizations to identify programs or initiatives in each community to support with the proceeds from the work. The goal is to find ways give directly back to the artists in each community. Supported programs have ranged from educational programming, youth poetry projects, teaching artists working in prisons, playwright residencies and memberships, and community arts workshops. The One-Minute Play Festival and the Deering Estate at Cutler have continued their dynamic partnership since 2011.

Deering Estate at Cutler Located along the edge of Biscayne Bay, the 444-acre Deering Estate at Cutler is an environmental, archeological and historical preserve. The Estate is part of the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department, which manages the Estate on behalf of the State of Florida. The Deering Estate is also a cultural and educational facility that features classes and programs for children and adults, teacher training and research opportunities. The Estate also serves as a small conference center for community organizations and corporate groups who share Charles Deering’s interest in the environment, botany, history, fine arts, antiques, rare books and wine.
