Miami, FL-The Miami-Dade Police Department’s Police Officer Assistance Trust’s Operation Support Our Wounded Warriors is proud to welcome back to Miami the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team™ (WWAST). The WWAST is a 501(c) (3) public charity whose mission is to inspire and educate others while enhancing the health and welfare of wounded warrior amputees. The team is comprised of competitive, athletic veterans and active-duty soldiers who have lost limbs post-9/11, while serving their country in the military/war. The WWAST represents some of our nation’s bravest and most determined heroes, soldiers, and veterans. These men have sustained severe injuries resulting in amputation, and through extensive rehabilitation, have become competitive athletes again. They play against able-bodied teams in exhibition games across the country and their armor now includes prosthetic legs and arms, along with extreme perseverance and attitude.
Come out to support a great cause and see these wounded warriors play in a celebrity softball game versus a team of former and current Major League Baseball players at Florida International University (FIU) Baseball Stadium on Friday, December 11, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. An autograph session will follow the game.
