The Miami-Dade Police Department is pleased to announce that Officer Paula A. Lombardich has been awarded the departmental Lifesaving Award and selected as Distinguished Officer of the Month for January 2024.
On Wednesday, December 13, 2023, Officer Lombardich was dispatched to Pines Nursing Home, located at 300 NE 141 Street, in reference to a 70-year-old female who was unconscious.
Officer Lombardich responded to the emergency call and observed a nurse performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) due to the female not having a pulse. When Officer Lombardich noticed that the nurse was becoming tired, she requested to take over doing CPR. Officer Lombardich then began performing CPR for several minutes until the arrival of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR). MDFR observed that Officer Lombardich was performing great quality CPR, so they requested that she continue while they set up their equipment. Shortly after, MDFR took over and transported the female to a local hospital, where she survived.
As a result of Officer Lombardich’s actions and quick thinking, a life was saved. Officer Lombardich is a credit to her profession, the Department, and the community she serves.
