The Miami-Dade Police Department is proud to announce the first female officer to successfully complete the SRT (Special Response Team) Basic Course since its inception. The first SRT Basic Course was held in January 1994. This is an intense and rigorous training that prepares officers to encounter all types of levels of threat. The new curriculum is five weeks long to include intense physical training, shooting, special scenarios, repelling, diving, chemical agents to name a few. Officer Lourdes Hernandez is an 18-year veteran who has proven to be a great role model for many.
