The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) will host Zoll Medical Corporation as they recognize several officers for their life-saving efforts.
On August 25, 2020, MDPD Midwest District Officers Trigo and Melendez were dispatched to a medical emergency. Upon arriving, they discovered an unresponsive female and immediately placed the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) pads to help further assess her condition. After starting the AED, it stated "Shock Advised" followed by "Begin Chest Compressions." Immediately after beginning chest compressions, the female regained consciousness, and the officers monitored her condition until Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) arrived. MDFR transported her to an area hospital to receive further medical evaluation and treatment.
On October 18, 2022, MDPD Special Patrol Bureau Officers Green and Dobao were working at the Government Center, when a male in the screening area suddenly fell to the ground and lost consciousness. After assessing the sick male and determining he was not breathing nor had a pulse, Ofc. Dobao began CPR as Officer Green retrieved the AED. After the AED delivered a shock, these officers continued administering CPR. The City of Miami Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the sick male, who had regained consciousness, to an area hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
The effective training and quick thinking of these officers led to these positive outcomes.
