Off-Duty Officer Shot

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

An off-duty City of Doral Police Department lieutenant and his spouse were ambushed in the driveway of their home. Investigators say that the couple were followed home by the subjects and robbed. The subjects and the victims were involved in a struggle, at which point a firearm was discharged, resulting in Mr. King being shot in the arm. The subjects then fled in a red 4-door Toyota Corolla with items belonging to the victims, to include Mr. King’s firearm. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported Mr. King to Jackson Memorial Hospital South, and is listed in stable condition. Mrs. King sustained minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.

As investigators continued to follow all leads, they located the subject vehicle in the area of SW 186 Street and SW 112 Avenue. In addition, three adult subjects were detained for questioning to determine their involvement. One of the individuals detained, Kionne Bell was subsequently charged with attempted second degree murder, armed robbery, aggravated battery on person 65 years or older and armed burglary. Kionne Bell was also charged with a robbery that occurred on January 9, 2018, that occurred in the front yard of a residence, located at 20712 SW 117 Court. A second subject remains at large.
