The Miami-Dade Police Department is investigating a retail theft, that left two employee's injured and lead officers on a vehicle pursuit.
According to investigators, uniform officers responded to 12350 SW 8 Street, regarding a retail theft. Upon arrival, officers observed a red Nissan Altima strike Christian Rodriguez and flee the parking lot. Officers pursued the vehicle.
During the pursuit, the subjects' vehicle struck a White BMW at SW 132 Avenue and SW 6 Street. The subjects continued towards 1124 NW 136 Court, where they came to a stop and officers were able to take them into custody. Subsequently, the vehicle became engulfed in flames. Miami- Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) responded and extinguished the fire.
Further investigation revealed that Jorge Luis Rodriguez, a lost prevention employee, was punched in the face inside the store while attempting to stop Zuraby Amaury Gonzalez from stealing.
Both Jorge Luis Rodriguez and Christian Rodriguez were treated for minor injuries on-scene by MDFR and released.
MDFR also responded to the scene of the crashed BMW, treating the victims on-scene.
The investigation continues.
