Violation of Designated Operational Area of Airport

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), Airport District arrested a man for violating a designated operational area at Miami International Airport.

According to investigators, this was an inbound flight from Colombia. The aircraft was at the gate, when the subject exited the aircraft through the emergency door, walked onto the wing of the plane, and then jumped down to a restricted area.  The subject was met by a security officer and asked for help, claiming that he was in danger.  He was then detained by a Customs and Border Protection agent.  MDPD, Airport District officers were dispatched, assumed the investigation and placed the subject under arrest.  The subject felt ill and was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital to be cleared medically, where he attempted to escape by physically resisting officers.  The subject remains at the hospital under police custody.  Once he is discharged and undergoes the intake process with Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department, his arrest affidavit and booking photo will be released.
