Subjects Arrested for Retail Theft and Dealing in Stolen Merchandise

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Miami-Dade Police Department's Organized Retail Crimes Squad have arrested three individuals for their participation in the theft and re-selling of retail goods.

According to detectives, an investigation spanning several months revealed a loss prevention officer, employed by a major hardware retail, was conspiring with several individuals to steal and re-sell the merchandise at a separate location.  The loss prevention officer, identified as Lazaro Dunier Echevarria would facilitate the thefts for Jose Bello-Valdez by concealing merchandise in boxes intended for other items such as vanities or garbage cans and would allow him to leave the store without paying.  They would then sell the stolen merchandise to Yoannys Montano-Solano, who would then re-sell the items on an online marketplace at prices well below their retail value.  Detectives served the search warrant at two locations, which yielded 1,240 items valued at over $260,000.  Some of the items were still in the original packaging.  All three individuals were arrested and charged accordingly.

The investigation continues.
