The Miami-Dade Police Department's Homicide Bureau is conducting a death investigation of two toddlers and a suicide attempt of an adult female.
According to investigators, uniformed officers from the Intracoastal District responded to a medical emergency call for both children that were unresponsive. Upon the officers’ arrival, the female that was accompanying the children, jumped over the expressway wall, fell from a considerable height, and landed on the railroad tracks. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and transported the toddlers to an area hospital and the female to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital in critical condition. Despite their efforts to save them, medical personnel pronounced both children deceased. The manner and cause of death will be determined by the autopsy results conducted by the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner. Detectives are also trying to determine what are the familial ties between the female and children.
The investigation continues.
UPDATE #1: The deceased toddlers and the adult female have been identified and listed above. It has been determined the adult female is the mother of the children, and she remains in critical condition.
