Shooting at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park

Eight Victims Reported Injured


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Police Department is investigating a shooting that left eight injured. 

During the Martin Luther King Jr. festivities inside MLK Memorial Park, shots were fired causing spectators to run for safety.  Uniform officers immediately responded to the area and discovered eight victims, ages ranging from 11 to 30 years of age, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported six victims to local hospitals while two juveniles were treated and released on-scene.  Investigators have detained two subjects for questioning to determine their involvement, if any. Two firearms were also recovered. It is unknown if additional subjects are at large as this investigation continues to be very active.
