Work includes but is not limited to milling, resurfacing, signalization, signing, and pavement markings. During the project, the West Venetian Bascule Bridge will be completely closed to vehicular, pedestrian and cyclist traffic. Because there will be no access to the Venetian Causeway from the mainland, those wishing to travel to Miami Beach and the Venetian islands from mainland Miami will need to use the MacArthur Causeway (I-395) or the Julia Tuttle Causeway (I-195). During the construction period, the East Venetian Bascule Bridge will be closed to marine traffic to ensure that vehicular traffic will be able to access and depart from the Venetian Causeway during emergency reconstruction of the West Venetian Bascule Bridge. Work will begin June 1, 2015 and is expected to be substantially completed by February 2016, weather permitting. Weight limits on the Venetian Causeway have been lowered from 15 tons to 11 tons on all bridges except the easternmost bridge (the one connecting Belle Isle to Miami Beach). The weight limit on the easternmost bridge has been increased to 16 tons.

The improvements to the Miami Avenue Bridge over the Miami River bridge rehabilitation project have been extended as a result of conditions discovered during the initial phases of construction. Work is expected to be substantially completed by December 2015, weather permitting.
