Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez issues Executive Order for twice-daily reports on hospital beds, supplies and number of patients
No hospital will transmit individually identifiable patient health information protected by federal and state law.
Today Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez signed Executive Order 18-20 requiring that official reports be filed twice daily on the beds, supplies and number of patients in all local hospitals. This order goes into effect at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday April 4, 2020.
These reports to the County must include the following:
- current staffed inventory of General Acute Care beds (does not include OB, pediatric or specialty/rehab)
- current staffed inventory of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds
- total number of unused beds at the hospital that could be converted for use as ICU beds
- total number of beds that can be converted to General Acute Care beds
- total number of ventilators available for immediate deployment
- total number of ventilators on standby
- total number of respirators and/or anesthesia machines that can be converted to serve as ventilators
- total COVID-19 patients admitted
- COVID-19 positive patients in ICU beds
- COVID-19 positive patients in non-ICU beds
- COVID-19 patients currently on a ventilator
- new COVID-19 patients admitted since the prior day’s reporting
- COVID-19 patients discharged since the prior days reporting
Hospitals are responsible for providing the above information solely with respect to their physical campus.
No hospital will transmit any individually identifiable patient health information that may not be disclosed pursuant to federal or state law.
If a hospital believes that all or some of this information is trade secret, as defined in Florida Statutes, the hospital shall expressly indicate this when it transmits this information.
This order will help the County deploy limited resources during the COVID-19 pandemic.
