COVID-19 testing now available to anyone 12 years or older at two sites

Countywide people no longer need to be experiencing symptoms to get tested

MIAMI ( May 08, 2020 )

Miami-Dade County continues to increase options for coronavirus testing by expanding the criteria in order to allow more young people to be tested.

Starting Saturday, May 9, 2020, at two County drive-thru sites, anyone 12 years or older may be tested, and they do not need to be showing symptoms. Those under 17 must have parental approval.

This new age limit applies to the sites at both the Tamiami Fairgrounds and South Dade Government Center.

The 18-year-old age limit still applies to the drive-thru sites at Marlins Park and the walk-up site at Holy Family Catholic Church in North Miami.

For all County sites, people no longer need to be experiencing symptoms in order to be tested.

All County-run testing sites continue to require an appointment, which can be made for the next day by calling 305-499-8767.

Staff at County-run sites can only test those with appointments.

“I encourage everyone to take advantage of the new COVID-19 testing options in our County,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. “Even people who feel fine can be carriers of this virus, so we all need to do everything in our power as we are ‘Moving to a New Normal’ to make sure that ‘I Keep You Safe, You Keep Me Safe.’”
