Beach reopening guidelines previewed ahead of June 1st target date
Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez has set the target date for the reopening of beaches as June 1st, 2020.
Some of the guidelines for reopening will include the following:
-No group greater than 10 people.
-All must be six feet apart to practice social distancing.
-If can’t practice social distancing, groups must wear masks.
-People from same household do not need to wear masks on beach except when at bathrooms and concession stands.
-Everyone must have masks handy to put on when circumstances warrant.
Allowed activities will include walking and jogging, swimming and surfing, paddle boarding and kayaking, sunbathing on individually owned chairs or towels, and eating with members of same household.
No organized or group activities or athletics involving groups of any size will be allowed, for example volleyball, football, soccer, frisbee.
Mayor Gimenez, along with the mayors and city managers of the coastal municipalities, and the medical experts are making their final reviews of the recommendations. Once these become the official guidelines that will be implemented, they will be published and distributed.
