Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez signs amendments to open gyms, banquet halls, summer camps, youth sports, dog parks
Movie theaters, bowling alleys, amusement facilities, casinos and other entertainment establishments must submit opening plans for County approval
On Thursday, June 4, 2020, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez signed two amendments to earlier emergency orders to allow for the re-opening of indoor exercise facilities, along with summer camps, youth sports and dog parks. These amendments will go into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2020.
Amendment No. 2 to Emergency Order 23-20 re-opens banquet halls, gyms, fitness centers, summer camps, youth activities, massage studios, and tattoo parlors. This amendment also provides a process for re-opening movie theaters, bowling alleys, amusement facilities, casinos, and other high-risk but individually unique entertainment establishments.
Before heading to any of these facilities, please carefully read the New Normal rules for each specific venue by clicking here, and note that non-strenuous activities, like yoga, require wearing a mask at 6 feet of separation, whereas strenuous activities indoors require 10 feet separation but no mask. As always when outdoors you don’t need a mask if social distancing can be accomplished.
Amendment No. 2 to Emergency Order 21-20 allows summer camps and youth sports to be conducted under certain social distancing and safety rules. It also permits dog parks to re-open.
Earlier in the week, short-term rentals were re-opened by Emergency Order 24-20.
All re-openings must follow the County’s New Normal Guidelines. To read those regulations, organized by specific businesses, click here.
