Miami-Dade County Parks teams up with Miami-Dade Public Library System to bring mobile library experiences to neighborhood parks during the COVID-19 pandemic

New partnership expands community resilience through park and recreation opportunities

MIAMI ( December 03, 2020 )

Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces is excited to partner with the Miami-Dade Public Library System (MDPLS) to provide vital mobile library services and technology resources for residents and their children at Miami-Dade Parks locations. As part of this partnership, the MDPLS’s Bookmobile and Technobus, a mobile computer lab on wheels, will be making regular weekly stops at select sites.

The initiative was launched in November in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, to help ensure our community stays connected and that residents can access lifelong learning and recreational experiences that improve neighborhood livability. The idea is to get people out to the park to relax with nature and the added enjoyment of a good book to read.

The Bookmobile gives library card holders access to borrowing books, DVDs, music and audiobooks. Those who don’t have a library card can apply for an eCard online at ecard.mdpls.org or any library location.

The Technobus makes stops throughout the community to ensure people of all ages have access to technology, digital learning and more. Visit www.mdpls.org for more information.

All COVID-19 New Normal Guidelines will be observed at these events, including requiring all Miami-Dade Parks staff and visitors to wear facial coverings and maintain social distance between individuals, and separation between groups.
