Miami Dade College North Campus Announced as Miami-Dade County's First Federal Vaccination Site

MIAMI ( February 19, 2021 )

Today, Miami Dade College North Campus was announced as the first federal vaccination site in Miami-Dade, one of four new federal vaccination sites statewide.

"For months I have been pushing to bring more vaccines urgently to Miami-Dade and to ensure that vaccine distribution is not only efficient but equitable, and that we are doing everything we can to reach underserved communities," said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. "I'm thrilled that the federal government is including Miami-Dade in their expanded vaccination efforts across Florida, and building on the work our team has already been doing to create a large-scale vaccine distribution system at sites including MDC Campus North. This site will greatly increase vaccine availability to those who need it the most."

"The federal vaccination site at Miami Dade College North Campus is welcome news to the residents of District two, who have been disproportionately impacted by this pandemic and need expanded access to life-saving vaccines," said County Commissioner Jean Monestime. "Today's announcement is a great step forward for our entire community in protecting the most vulnerable and putting this pandemic behind us."

The site will open on March 3 and will operate 7 days per week, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., administering 2,000 vaccines per day. The site will also provide two additional mobile vaccination clinics that will administer an additional 1,000 per day to help bring vaccines directly to the hardest-to-reach neighborhoods.

Updates about how to sign up for appointments at this site will be provided at miamidade.gov/vaccine. Those 65+ should also pre-register here: myvaccine.fl.gov or by calling 888-499-0840 (TTY: 888-256-8918).
