Miami-Dade County Department of Solid Waste Management suspends bulky waste scheduling, recycling collection as Hurricane Elsa approaches; TRCs to remain open even through the Independence Day holiday
The Miami-Dade County Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) has announced suspension of bulky waste scheduling until further notice. No new bulky waste pickups will be scheduled as of 2 p.m. Friday, July 2.
The move was made in response to the expected approach of Hurricane Elsa.
DSWM will continue to collect previously scheduled bulky waste piles while weather conditions allow. While DSWM does not encourage residents to clean their yards and prune trees at this time, the 13 Trash and Recycling Centers (TRCs) will remain open for use by service area customers during their normal hours throughout the weekend, including on Independence Day and the day after (Sunday, July 4 and Monday, July 5)—7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.—again, as long as weather conditions permit.
Additionally, recycling collection has been suspended for Monday, July 5, in an abundance of caution. If your recycling collection day falls on that date, please do not place your blue recycling cart at the curb that day; rather, there will be a recycling-only make-up day on Saturday, July 10.
Waste collection customers whose waste collection days are Mondays and Thursdays are reminded that there will be no waste collection service on Monday, July 5, due to the Independence Day holiday. Your next waste collection day will be Thursday, July 8.
All DSWM customers are reminded to store their garbage and recycling carts indoors to prevent them floating away from during heavy rains or becoming projectiles during storm-force winds.
Follow DSWM on Facebook and Twitter for updates.
