Mayor Daniella Levine Cava thanks Governor Ron DeSantis for nearly $67 million in COVID relief funds to PortMiami

MIAMI ( July 29, 2021 )

Today Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced the allocation of $66,901,040 to PortMiami to support economic recovery from impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Governor DeSantis and the Florida Legislature allocated $250,000,000 to the State’s 14 deep-water ports through the America’s Rescue Plan and Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund, to support recovery efforts from decreased revenue throughout the pandemic and invest in port infrastructure.

“On behalf of PortMiami and the residents of Miami-Dade County, I want to express our sincere gratitude to Governor Ron DeSantis for this allocation,” stated Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “PortMiami and our local cruising industry is a cornerstone of our regional economy and we are grateful for the pivotal state and federal support during this challenging time. These funds will replenish PortMiami’s cash reserves to pre-pandemic levels and provide the financial foundation for critical port projects to be funded on schedule including shore power.”
