Water sample solicitation notices not affiliated with Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department

MIAMI ( October 13, 2021 )

There have been reports of individuals asking to sample residents’ drinking water inside their homes in the Westchester area and water sample solicitation cards have been left at a business in the Kendall area. Neither of these activities are affiliated with the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD).

This is not the first time that cards offering free water sampling have been disseminated throughout the County. The apparent goal of some of these sampling opportunities is the sale of water filtration systems to residents.

Water filters are not needed prior to using Miami-Dade’s drinking water.

“I want everyone to know that Miami-Dade County’s water is excellent and meets or exceeds all drinking water standards,” said WASD Director Roy Coley. “We test the water at our accredited labs more than 150,000 times a year. If you ever have a question about the quality of your drinking water, you should contact our Lab Division staff directly.”

Customers who live north of Southwest Eighth Street should call 786-552-4738. If you live south of Southwest Eighth Street, call 786-552-4181.

WASD also issues its Water Quality Report every year. The current report is based on 2020’s information.

It is the priority of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department to provide safe, reliable service to its customers. For additional information about Department services and programs, visit the WASD website.
